The sequel to Into the Spider-Verse will actually be two movies, not one

The initial trailer for the very prepared for sequel to the computer animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse simply dropped, revealing both the title Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Component One)– and the shock that the upcoming journeys of Miles Morales will in fact be a two-part event.

The first-look trailer grabs right where the last Spider-Verse film ended: with Miles (Shameik Moore) hing on bed, prior to a portal to Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) as well as her cosmos opens up.

From there, it looks like Throughout the Spider-Verse (Part One) is mosting likely to be trying to beguile the already excellent computer animation of the original movie, with Miles jumping across numerous animated universes in a range of art designs as he dukes it out with Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac, that articulated the character in the post-credit scene of the initial motion picture.).

According to the official description, the upcoming follow up will “deliver Brooklyn’s full time, pleasant area Spider-Man across the Multiverse to sign up with forces with Gwen Stacy and also a brand-new group of Spider-People to take on with a bad guy extra powerful than anything they have ever run into.”.

Sony isn’t stating who that villain is (although it’s possible the film could make use of the 2014 Spider-Verse comic crossover, which saw the multiverse’s Spider-People under attack from Morlun and also the Inheritors), although whatever the hazard is, it shows up that it could not be contained to simply a single movie.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Component One) is set to hit theaters on October 7th, 2022, with Part Two set to follow at some point in 2023.
